How pricing works

A repipe is priced after a walk-through, not from a phone call. Here's what goes into the number and when you see it.

  • What decides the price

House size and layout set most of it. These change the number most.

    • How many bathrooms, kitchens and other fixtures

    • One story or two, and how we reach the walls

    • How much drywall opens, and its texture

    • The water heater and shutoffs we reconnect

    • The permit and inspection for your city or county

  • What the estimate includes, and what it doesn't

The written plan lists every fixture we reconnect and every wall we open.

    • Included: PEX lines, fittings and shutoff valves

    • Included: permit, inspection visit and drywall patching

    • Included: paint on the patched areas

    • Not included: repainting whole rooms, tile or cabinet work, or damage found inside a wall

  • What happens at the visit

A crew lead walks every room, counts fixtures, checks the attic or crawl space and photographs the walls we'd open. It takes about an hour and comes before any agreement. Whatever the walk-through costs is told to you before we come, and it's credited toward the work if you go ahead.

  • After hours

We schedule repipes in daytime hours and don't run an after-hours line. If water is running tonight, shut off the main valve and call a plumber who takes night calls. Call us the next business day about the repipe.

  • How and when you pay

A deposit holds your dates, and the balance is due when the work is finished and inspected. The written plan shows each amount and the day it's due.

  • When you get the number

In writing, after the walk-through and before you sign. It covers the work listed in the plan. If a wall opens to something the plan didn't list, we stop and tell you first.

Questions about the price

Can you give me a price over the phone?

No. The price depends on your walls, your fixtures and your permit, so a phone number would be a guess. The walk-through is how we get it right.

Is the drywall work a separate charge?

No. Patching, texture and paint on every opening in the plan are part of the same written price. Repainting a whole room is only in it if the plan says so.

Does the plan hold if I wait?

The plan states how long its price holds. After that date we walk the house again and write a new one.
